ILLEGAL UPLIFTING!!

I have been informed today, by the FC ranger, that he came across a vehicle that was uplifting bikes at Rheola. When asked, the people in question reported that they were working for the WDMBA, on it’s trail building program. This clearly wasn’t the case as all digging activities are arranged by myself and ONLY myself-there is no trail building to be carried out under ANY circumstances, unless under prior agreement by the WDMBA and it’s agreement with the Forestry Commission!

I would like to remind everyone that accessing FC land without permission is illegal! The WDMBA has special permission to access the land and does so under very strict rules! Therefore, anyone caught with a motorised vehicle on FC ground, will have their presence reported to the police and will be banned from all associated WDMBA events!

We cannot risk loosing our right to access FC ground and therefore take these matters VERY seriously! This is a warning to those in the forrest and to anyone planing on uplifting! If those who were in the forest would like to own up then we would appreciate it, but any further incidents will be dealt with severely!

Upcoming Dig Days

With the upcoming race series nearing, and the condition of a few tracks in need of some graft, the WDMBA are organising a few dig/maintenance days.

The tracks and dates are as follows:

Rheola – 30th January
Gethin – 27th February

Obviously, the success of a series is dependant on its venues so we would appreciate your help on these dig days.. it would be nice to see some new faces coming along lend a hand to the usual hard working dig crew!

2010 Series Press Release!

After a relatively quiet year in 2009, spent ironing out all the issues faced in getting a proper series re-established in Wales, the WDMBA has joined forces with one of the best event organisers in the UK, Borderline Events, to bring you the 2010 Welsh Series. The series will use some of the best race venues in Wales and will include Rheola, Llangollen, Moelfre plus two of the other four regional level tracks in South Wales. The Event at Llangollen will also be the 2010 Welsh Championships, which will make the Welsh series one of the biggest three in the UK.

Both Borderline and WDMBA will continue to run events, such as the uplift days at the tracks and the successful Unclipped Race at Moelfre, but with the WDMBA concentrating on the venues and Borderline on the planning of highly successful events, 2010 looks like an exciting year for Downhill racing in Wales.

Here’s the dates for your diary…. 90% sure.. i’m pretty sure it’s just the locations that could alter.

 01st & 02nd May (Welsh Champs) Llangollen

 29th & 30th May – Mynyndd Du

 28th & 29th August - Rheola

 18th - 19th September – Mountain Ash/Gethin/Cwmcarn

 09th - 10th October - Moelfre

Ok here’s the latest… we can’t have anymore practice in Rheola in the next month, or so, because something called rallying is gonna rip up the roads. We are going have a uplift day in Gethin but, they are logging there until mid November. So, our next date is 21 or 22 of november at Gethin. Then we’ll offer another date in dec and we are considering a date between xmas and new year! … come on burn that turkey off!!

We are currently discussing next years race series with another event organiser, but I can assure you the 2010 season in Wales will be amazing! Keep an eye on this site for news and there will be more in the next week!

Sept 20th Practice Day – Extra bus!!!

“Thats all folks!” sorry we have sold out two busses and therefore the entries are full and now closed! The demand has been unbelievable, but it’s great to have so much support! Thank you!!

WE WILL BE RELEASING MORE DATES IN THE COMING WEEKS SO PLEASE KEEP AN EYE ON THE WEBSITE!

Due to quite high demand, we are going to put on a second bus for this sundays event! Normally we will only be running one, but as it’s the NPS at the track the following week, and it’s been so dry, the demand seems to be there, and we don’t want to disappoint!

The uplift on sunday is now full! SORRY!!! However…. we are considering a second bus due to the demand! If you are defiantly interested, e mail me on jt@wdmba.co.uk and i’ll add you to the list! If i get enough interest we’ll do it. I will do all I can to get everyone on the bus but i think with the nationals and the Massive success of last sat has meant that loads more people want to ride!

Entries for the uplift days are now open for the 12th and 20th. Entry’s are selling quite fast and are limited to 100 so please don’t hesitate to enter. The track Is the newly updated Rheola track, and will feature the new end section built for the NPS in september.
